Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur meets Union Minister for Environment

Dharamshala, April 23, 2018: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, met Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr.Harsh Vardhan in New Delhi on Monday and urged him for sanctioning two major projects prepared by Himachal Pradesh Government to save its valuable natural resources in view of the climate change. This was disclosed in a press release issued here.
Union Minister assured the Chief Minister that Centre will full support to the efforts of Himachal Pradesh Government in maintaining forest and ecological balance and efforts will be made to provide technical and financial clearance for the projects submitted to the Centre by the State Government for this purpose after their detailed study.
Thakur told Union Minister , “State Environment, Science & Technology department had submitted two projects of estimated cost of Rs. 1644.32 crore to the Central Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change through National Agriculture & Rural Bank (NABARD). Among them, an ambitious project of Rs. 1125.32 crore was water conservation and community management of natural water resources and the second one of Rs. 492 crore was on climate based forest management.”

Top government functionaries, renowned higher judiciary members & environment activists, come on single platform for 'protection of environment'

Chandigarh, April 22, 2018: Chandigarh hosted a first of a kind Regional Conference on Environment, in Panjab University. The Conference was organised by ‘Global Platform for Environment(GPE)' - an NGO made up of a dynamic team of Advocates and Environmentalists. Hon'ble Mr.Justice Swatanter Kumar, Former Chairman National Green Tribunal(NGT) & Ex Judge of Supreme Court of India is the National Convenor, (GPE) & he was present along with Reeta Kohli Senior Advocate- SIOLI(Serving in Organisations for Legal Initiatives ), which is working effectively for environmental awareness in the states of Punjab, Haryana , Himachal , J & K and UT Chandigarh.
The conference saw a pertinent inaugural session, followed by 3 technical sessions & a valedictory session. Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana was Chief guest for inaugural session. Justice Swatanter Kumar delivered the welcome address. "Our team is planning to go to different regions especially rural areas to spread environmental awareness. We also plan to plant 10000 trees. We are going to hold conferences like this one in Shimla, Gurgaon, Amritsar & Srinagar." Said Justcice Swatanter Kumar.

Sampla meets Haiti Prez, PM and foreign minister, discusses strengthening of bilateral ties

Chandigarh, April 22, 2018: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Vijay Sampla led an Indian delegation on a three-day visit to the Caribbean nation of Haiti for promoting and further strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
During this visit, which concluded on April 20, Sampla first met Haitian President Jovenel Moïse and thanked him for supporting the re-election of India’s judge to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Sampla assured Moise that India will back Haiti for the non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council in the 2020 elections.
Presenting Haitian Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant with a gift sent by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sampla conveyed him the message that India looks towards Haiti as its special friend. Sampla, in his meeting with Lafontant, stated that both India and Haiti should work towards strengthening cooperation in areas such as agriculture, technical education, solar energy, IT and other bilateral issues.

CROPS CATCHING FIRE: Haryana CM orders special girdawari to compensate farmers for loss of crops

Chandigarh, April 22, 2018: In view of the growing incidents of crops catching fire, the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, today ordered a special girdawari to compensate the farmers for the loss of crops. The state government is also working on different alternatives to increase the prescribed limit for procurement of mustard and bajra and plans to export mustard oil.
The Chief Minister disclosed this while addressing dealers and farmers after inspecting wheat procurement in the Jhajjar Anaj Mandi, today. The Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mr Karan Dev Kamboj, was also present. Mr Manohar Lal inspected the weight of wheat sacks on scales before loading, besides the quality of wheat and the pace of procurement.
He congratulated the farmers for producing bumper wheat production in the state. In the previous season, about 74 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was procured while this season, 65 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has already been procured and the procurement process would continue for ten more days, he added.

Gurugram witnesses evening of blissful poetry

Eminent poets regale audience at DLF Club5 with original compositions
Gurugram, April 17, 2018: The city of Gurugram transformed into a vibrant literary hub with the ‘Aainakhana’ been held at DLF Club5. Organized by DLF5 and Delhi Shayari Club, ‘Aainakhana’- a one of its kind poetry event was a joyous celebration of Urdu and Hindi poetry along with a serious reflection on its continuing legacy.
Some of the prominent poets of the country that enthralled the audience with their scholarly compositions included Vipul Kumar, Abbas Qamar, Shariq Kaifi, Farhat Ehsas, Tarkash Pradeep and the likes.
Aainkakhana was aimed at binging the young poets and seasoned poets on one platform with an aim to motivate the youth to listen and enjoy baithaks and shayaris. Setting the tone of Aainakhana Abbas Qmar one of the younest poet of the line up recited ' hairat se muje dekh,muje daikhne wale, main apne saleeke ka akela he bacha hu.' His performance was followed by Tarkesh Pradip 'mera pinjra khol doya hai tum bhi ajab shikari ho, apne he par kaat liye hai main bhi ajab parinda hu'.
One of India's seasoned poet and leading contemporary Urdu poet, recited few of his solful compositions clsoing the evening he recited 'ye sehr vo hai ke koi khushi to kya deta, kisi ne dil bhi dukhaya nahi bohot dino se'.

Giving Every Dream a Chance – Akshaya Patra’s Magical Evening Celebrating the Dreams of Beneficiary Children

Aiming to reach 5000 beneficiaries across the country in the coming year
Bengaluru: An event showcasing the beneficiaries of Akshaya Patra’s“Giving Every Dream a Chance”—a special initiative to nurture children with unique dreamswas held at Taj Yeshwantpur, Bangalore. The Foundation started this initiative with the conviction that every child has a dream; each dream is valid - for their dreams, thoughts, and aspirations make these children what they are. It is the Foundation’s humble attemptto identify children with special dreams and give them the opportunity to realise these dreams.
The event also marked the launch of the mascot of “Swachh Vidyarthi, Swachh Vidyalaya, Swachh Gruha” - an initiative by Akshaya Patra to achieve Swachh Bharat. The mascot is named ‘Sunny’ and the two child characters associated with the campaign are named Bhoomi and Akash.

Himachal CM inaugurates Solar Power Plant at Shimla

Shimla, April 6, 2018: First Grid connected Solar Power Plant of Shimla city having capacity of 35 KW installed in the roof-top of Department of Environment, Science and Technology was today inaugurated by Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur.
Speaking of the occasion the Chief Minister said that the solar energy was not only environment friendly but also cost effective. He said that the State Government would encourage setting up of such power plants not only in government establishments but also in private houses as well. He said that the State Environment Science and Technology department had taken a lead in this direction and urged other departments to follow the State. He said that adopting renewable energy technology such as solar plants in their office premises would not only contribute towards energy saving, but also help in environmental conservation.
Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that this plant would recover its installation and other expenditure within four-five years and thereafter this would lead to revenue saving of the State. He said that if each one of us adopt solar based energy technologies, we all can contribute towards energy saving and to a great extent meet the energy demand of the world.
The Chief Minister was apprised that through this plant solar power would be fed to main grid and therefore the consumption of electricity power would be reduced.
