Dance Pe Chance and Kushan Productions present Cultural Night 2019

Chandigarh, Nov 17, 2019: Cultural Night 2019 was held at Bhakna Bhawan, Sector 29 D, Chandigarh under the aegis of Dance Pe Chance and Kushan Productions. Special Guest for the evening was Mr. Sonu Sethi  and Guest of Honour were Mrs Neetu Dandi, Mrs Trishna Mandal, Mrs Ragini Kulkarni and Mrs Rinku Malik. Children's Day was also celebrated on the occasion.

Mrs Jagdeep Kaur, Director, Dance Pe Chance & Kushan Productions said, "The motive behind this event is to promote cultural activities in the society. We often hold such activities to provide the kids a platform for their talent expression and growing their confidence, which is necessary for them to get chance in movies and music industry.  Through such events, kids also get exposed to different cultures of our countrry. We are showing all this through dance presentations on the stage."

Children of the Dance Academy celebrated the Children's Day and a special cake was cut and distributed on the occasion.

Dr Chhina appointed as Governing Board Member of prestigious medical education body

Ludhiana, November 17, 2019: Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina (Dean Academics, Professor of Gastroenterology and State Technical Advisor to United Nations (UNIDO)  has been appointed as Member of the National Board of Examinations, working under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Giving information, Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina says that National Board of Examinations (NBE) is an autonomous (independent) body formed under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to improve the quality of medical education and standardize postgraduate medical education and examination in India. The postgraduate degree awarded by the National Board of Examinations is called the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) and is equivalent to MD or MS awarded by other recognized Indian Universities.

In the past few years, competency based education curriculum has been started by Medical Council of India (MCI) for MBBS Courses. According to Dr Chhina, all entrance tests for admission to Medical PG Courses are being conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE). It is worth mentioning that in India, more tha 600 hospitals both in public and private sector have been accredited by the Board for conducting of training in about various medical specialties and super specialties.


Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta congratulated Dr Chhina for getting elected as member of this prestigious medical  education body.



In the past also, Dr Chhina has also occupied prestigious positions as Secretary, Nutritional Society if India, Governing Board Member of Indian Society of Endoscopy, United Nations Technical Advisor (UNIDO) and President, Gastrointestinal Infection Society of India.

Workshop on “Institutional research collaboration for young India- Preparedness towards space and informatics intelligence”

Chandigarh, November 1, 2019: One day workshop on “Institutional research collaboration for young India- Preparedness towards space and informatics intelligence” was jointly organized by Centre of Advanced Study in Geology Panjab University, Chandigarh and Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC) PAU campus, Ludhiana, here today.
This workshop was in line with Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC) and Panjab University, Chandigarh on 7th August 2019. In this MoU both institutions joined hands to enhance research and academic collaboration for application of Remote sensing and geospatial technology.
The workshop held at the Centre of Advanced Study in Geology Panjab University, Chandigarh and scientific group from both the above mentioned institutions came together to hold technical discussions and deliberations following a presentation session.
In this workshop key speakers from PRSC scientific group were Dr R. K. Setia (Soil, water and Environment)  Mr. S.K. Sahoo (Geology, water resources and disaster management) Mr. S.K. Patel (Geo-informatics and spatial analytics), Mr. Dhruval Bhavsar (Forest and environment), and Dr. Mohit Arora (Geophysics and remote sensing).
Speakers from Panjab University were Dr. Simrat Kahlon, Dr. Vishwa Bandhu Singh (Geography and geoinformatics) from Department of Geography, Dr. Madhuri Rishi (Environmental Issues) from Department of Environment Studies, Dr. Mahesh Thakur (Landslides, Active Faults and Heat flow) from Department of Geology, who was also organizing secretary of the event and Dr. Naveen Aggarwal and Dr. Sukhvir Singh (UAV and wireless sensors) from University Institute Engineering and Technology.
All the eminent speakers talked about their research work and future prospective and discussed how the remote sensing and GIS resources can be used efficiently and collaboratively for sustainable development of society and encouraged young students and research scholars in this direction.
